difficulties at the begining because you have to adjust yourself according to the new environment. Living far away
from home with new people who are coming from different background makes
things more complicated. Despite of all these problems, you are going to miss all those
amazing people whom you have met in the hostel at the end of your hostel
life. Experiencing the hostel life is one of its kind in itself, and I am going to tell you some of the essential tips which i have personally experienced and implemented during my hostel days that can help you to make your hostel life amazing.
Some essential tips to make your hostel
day's better:
·
Carry surplus amount of home made food:
In most of the hostels, food which is
served to the students is not up to the mark in terms of taste and quality. If
you are living in the hostel for the first time, then the situation will be difficult
for you to handle. To avoid this crisis situation, you have to carry surplus amount of home made food like laddus, pickle, and namkeen to survive your hostel
life's starting days.
·
Befriend with your roommates:
When you are living far away from your
parents in a hostel, roommates are the only persons who can look after you
like your parents in your bad times. The bond which you are going to create
with your roommates is entirely different from the other hostel mates because roommates
not only shares the room but they also share the pain and emotion too. By the end of
your hostel days, these roommates will be a part of your extended family. These
roommates are those crazy persons who are going to make your hostel life
memorable.
·
Respect your seniors:
If you are living in a hostel then you have to respect your seniors because they deserve
it. In every aspect regarding the hostel life seniors are more experienced than you because they are living in the hostel for a year or more. In some of the situations, experience matters a
lot. In every hostel, there will be a senior who will care for you like your
elder brother. In every step of your hostel life, he will be there to solve all
your problems, and he will be giving important advice to make your hostel days
smooth, not only hostel days but even in your life.
· Try to maintain a healthy
relationship with your warden:
If you are living in a hostel and want to
enjoy some extra perks, then the warden is the person who can allow you to
enjoy those extra perks. Suppose you are having a Saturday night plan with
your friends, and you are planing to enter the hostel late at night, then you have to maintain a good
relationship with your warden. Maintaining a healthy relationship with your
warden is the only way to live a hassle-free hostel life. Always be kind and
try to initiate small talk with them whenever you get time.
·
Learn to say no in a subtle way:
Living in a hostel far away from
family members automatically makes a person rough and tough similarly others
are also facing similar kind of situation like you. In this critical condition, use
subtle ways to say no instead of expressing it with words. For example: If you
are getting annoyed with someone, you can avoid that person by using earphones
or getting busy in doing assignments. If you want to enjoy a smooth hostel
life, then you have to apply this particular point practically in your hostel
days.
·
Try to avoid conflicts with roommates:
Suppose three persons are living in
the same room for more than 15 hours a day automatically, and one can get
annoyed with another's behavior. In that particular situation, conflicts are
very easy to rise. Always try to avoid these types of conflicts and if you are
not able to tackle the situation on your own, then take the necessary help from
your senior, who is like your elder brother.
·
Try to save money as much as you can:
When you are living far away from
your parents in a hostel and you are still a student, then you have to face a
severe kind money crunch. So try to save money as much as you can for your
essentials because hostel life is filled up with many unforeseen expenditures
like sudden projects, printouts, and many more things that require money.
