Obesity is nothing other than excessive weight gain due to poor eating habits and lack of proper parental influence over teenagers eating habits.
Obesity is becoming a serious problem among teenagers. In a recent survey, it has been figured out that 17% of teens are suffering from obesity in America only. Parents are concerned about this problem.
According to doctors, obesity is a kind of medical condition which can be noticed very easily but very critical to treat. In most of the cases, it has been found that of proper parenting skills and guidance is mainly responsible for teen obesity.
So in this blog, I am going to discuss some important parental influencing factors that can be used by the parents to prevent teen obesity. Without wasting too much of your precious time it's time to start the blog.





How parents can influence their teen for healthy eating habits?

Some of the important ways which can be used by parents to influence their teen to eat healthy food are written below:

·         Try to eat all the meals and snacks at a fixed timing:

Having breakfast, lunch, evening snacks, and dinner at a fixed timing regularly develops a healthy habit. Development of this healthy habit within your teen. Automatically prevent your teen to eat unhealthy snacks when they are not at all hungry. 

·         Always try to eat together:

Teens who used to have their lunch and dinner together with the family use to develop a habit of consuming healthy foods. Like whole grains, cereals, pulses, vegetables, and fruits. While on the other hand teens who used to eat their meals outside especially junk food used to show a higher tendency of obesity.

·         Never pressurize your teen to consume extra food

In most of the household, it can be noticed very frequently that parents used to pressurize teens to consume more amount of food. From the parents point of view, they are right. But this over consumption of food can negatively affect your teen which may result in obesity.

·         Always try to avoid offering food as a means of reward:

 Awarding junk food as a means of reward is a very unhealthy practice. This unhealthy eating habits of your teen can result in unexpected weight gain.





·         Always cook healthy food at home:

Mainly high calories, excessive salt and too much sugar content types food should be avoided at home as much as it is possible. Always try to cook a proper balanced diet for your teen.

As a parent, it is your sole responsibility to mold your teen's eating habits. Any type of negligence from your side towards your teen eating habit may result in obesity. You can influence your teen to eat healthy food by becoming a proper role model for them. Taking proper care of your teen's diet can create a long-lasting positive impact on their body.
